María José

Maria Jose, Open Heart Surgery 2005 – Maria Jose’s Mother, Elba, works with us in the ADLN office, Maria Jose is now 13, a healthy teenager who is getting ready to graduate from middle school. She is living a normal life with great expectations for the future thanks to her open heart surgery six years ago at the Mayo Clinic. Maria Jose was the first heart child sent to the USA and we are thankful we have been able to watch her grow into a lovely young lady. She is checked each year by Cardiologist Dr. Richard McFaul and Dr. Alejandro Valderrain.

 

Joselyn

Joselyn

Joselyn, Heart Procedure 2008- Joselyn had her heart intervention at the Avera McKennan Hospital, she is now a lovely 11 year old who we see often on visits to our office.  ADLN has sent Joselyn to multiple physicians for other health problems, she is heart healthy and checked each year by Doctors McFaul and Velderrain. After many years of worrying about her first daughter’s health, Lorena now has a new baby…a new    sister for Joselyn.

Paola

Paola Open Heart Surgery 2008 – Paola is a Down’s Syndrome child, through ADLN she received treatment for pneumonia in Amerimed for approximately 20 days to get her healthy enough to travel to Omaha for her surgery. She is now healthy, goes to CRIT every week for rehab this rehab has enabled her to walk, express herself and learn how to interact with family and friends. She attends CSL Special School and is healthy.

Daniel Open Heart Surgery 2010  – Daniel was a one year old living with his parents in Todo Santos when they came to ADLN for help with Daniel’s serious heart condition. He received his successfully open heart surgery at the Omaha Children’s Hospital. Soon after the surgery when he was healthy the family moved back to Durango, their original home.

José Antonio

Jose Antonio Open Heart 2010 – Jose Antonio was very sick before being sent to SF, he was in Amerimed in Intensive Care for about 10 days at a cost to ADLN of $10,000. His surgery went well but it was necessary to leave him with a pace maker. ADLN sends him to La Paz to have the pace maker checked every 3 months and Dr. McFaul checks him periodically, Jim and his team also checked him when they were here. He is healthy.

Paola M.R.1Open Heart 2010 – Paola was also severely ill before going to SF, she spent 15 days in Intensive Care and had a Pulmologist attending her every day until she left at a cost of $30,000 to ADLN. She is checked periodically by Dr. McFaul and she is very healthy.

Axel Open Heart Surgery 2011 – Axel is now a healthy four years old after his open heart surgery corrected his congenital heart malformation at Omaha Children’s Hospital. He is checked by Dr. McFaul, Dr. Hammel. ADLN still has frequent contact with his family who live in La Paz.

Ximena Open Heart Surgery 2012 – Ximena had a very severe heart malformation; Dr. Hammel said one of the worst he had ever seen. She has been surgically repaired and is healthy but will have restriction during her life for her health as her heart is not 100%. Her family lives in Ciudad Constitucion; she has been checked by Dr. McFaul and Dr. Hammel.

Perla

Perla Open Heart Surgery 2013 – 14 year old Perla went to Omaha Children’s for her complicated open heart surgery, she was back in OR several times before she was fully recuperating. She is now a very active 15 year old enjoying life to the fullest…we see her on Facebook often! Perla has been given a second chance at life thanks to this surgery.

Isabel

Isabel Open Heart 2013 – In June of 2013 Los Cabos Children’s Foundation brought Dr James Hammel, the Cardio Thoracic Pediatric Surgeon from Omaha Children’s Hospital, to La Paz BCS accompanied by a medical team of 20 to carry out a cardio clinic. At this clinic Isabel received her open heart surgery. It was touch and go and she was back in OR before fully healing after over two weeks of hospitalization. We have seen her at the ADLN Office and she is doing well.
